1 Lombard Street, City of London.

This project entails the adaptation of an existing interior space to provide a new restaurant. Positioned in the core of the city, the restaurant’s entrance enjoys an excellent location at the corner of Lombard Street across from the Mansion House and overlooking the Bank of England. The existing interior dates back to 1907 and has been called one of the most magnificent banking halls in the City of London. The principal rooms on the ground floor are Grade - II listed. A two stage tendering approach was decided on this very tight programme, 7 months from start of design to completion.

Onward Kashiyama, Bd St Germain, Paris.

Complete fit out of a fashion shop in Quartier Latin just opposite the church of St Germain-des-Pres in a historic sensitive area of Paris. The complete refurbishment and a new corporate image for Onward. Detailed negotiations with The Mairie of Paris have to be carried out to make sure that the external alterations will not put a stop to this fast track programme. Management Construction was chosen due to time and budget constraints.

Refurbishment of Queen Anne Style private residence in Bedford Park, Chiswick designed by Norman Shaw. The area of Bedford Park is Grade II listed. All services will be renewed, three new bathrooms created, the kitchen extension will be slightly altered to conform to modern living still respecting the existing building. Fit-out for the Hulton Getty Gallery in an old workshop as a modern bright exhibition space to house their 25.000 picture collection. The project is particularly challenging due to its low budget; all furniture in the gallery space was designed in the office. A very tight time schedule was met and the project ended under budget. Refurbishment of a Norman Shaw house in Bedford Park. The project entailed detailed negotiations with English Heritage and Hounslow Councils Conservation officer. Showroom and offices, London Borough of Islington

Refurbishment of existing factory building to prestigious showroom and design offices for Fashion Group Ltd. To create a modern show room for a demanding Client on a small budget. Full floor to ceiling glass screens to create the feel of open space, but still to maintain a sense of privacy. Most of the loose and fitted furniture was designed within the office. The contract was negotiated with a Manchester builder to achieve budget and time.

Concord Lighting Showroom High Holborn, London WC2.

PTCO hove designed the new London headquarters and showroom of GTE Concord Lighting Ltd. The ground and basement floors of a high-profile office building in Holborn are converted to provide a lighting showroom and demonstration area, reception, offices. meeting and lecture room. Within the showroom there are large sliding and hinged panels which allow the space to be altered to demonstrate different lighting conditions.

A new Courtyard office building with underground car park adjacent to Wandsworth Park. The concept was to create a structure with maximum flexibility in terms of letting areas. The scheme reflects a trend for office users to move into quieter and more Comfortable 'urban' locations.

“Oscar Sunrise” Cinemas, Taipei, Taiwan

The large single auditorium of two cinemas in Taipei was converted into three smaller cinemas, in line with current trends in Europe and North America for smaller theatres with shorter film runs. These were the first Cinemas to be 'designed' in the city and were constructed in six weeks to a low budgets Both are commercially successful.

Monsoons Fashions, Brompton Rd, Knightsbridge

PTCO have been asked by Monsoon to create a new image that can be applied to their 56 existing fashion shops. A new merchandising system has been specially designed and is to be installed in the first shop to receive the new design, their flagship shop in Knightsbridge.

10 Houses, Taipei, Taiwan

A speculative luxury-housing scheme, for ten houses and a communal swimming pool, is being built on a site on the edge city, near the river, and with views of Buddha Mountain. Accommodation in each house includes for a sauna gym, lift and underground parking. The construction is concrete frame clad in opaque Japanese glass.

“Stan Fashion” Showroom, Taipei, Taiwan

The fit-out and furnishing of the head office of a young fashion Company in Taipei. The scheme provides for the director's and administration offices, and also for a space used for the presentation of new collections. The design is simple, with high quality materials and careful detailing acting as a backdrop against which to display the clothes.

House with Two Monks and a Buddha Taipei, Taiwan

On Min. Sheng Mountain, overlooking the city, this family house has been designed with five bedrooms, dining room, living room and staff quarters plus steam room, gymnasium, music room and swimming pool. On the roof, two cells are to be built to accommodate resident monks and a temple for the Buddha.

“Sunrise” Department store, Food court Taipei, Taiwan

PTCO's first food court commission in Taiwan was sited in the basement and ground floor of the 'Sunrise' department store. The two levels are linked by a central bank of escalators. The court itself consists of specialist concessions of Chinese, Japanese and Western foods. Each has their own seating as well as sharing a Communal dining area. This scheme has set the standard for food courts in the Capital.

“Vittoriale”, House of Pleasure, Roppongi, Tokyo, Japan.

PTCO were commissioned to design a new entertainment building in the Roppongi district of Tokyo. The concept wins for 'A House of Pleasure', owned by a European eccentric, which Contained an Italian Restaurant a French Restaurant, both with separate entertaining rooms and a Nightclub in the Cellar. The design was received with great enthusiasm but was eventually shelved due to an excessive increase in land prices.

'Sport '90' Design Museum, London SE1.

PTCO were commissioned by the Design Museum to create the 'Sport '90' Exhibition in the 'Boilerhouse' section of the museum. A selection of the 'state of the art' pieces of sports equipment wars dramatically displayed and 'posed' on an arid of plinths, which pierce a sloping plywood floor. Each object was theatrically lit and set against a vibrant blue wall.

“Sunrise” Department store Hsin Chu, Taiwan

The second food court for 'Sunrise', and the first in Hsin Chu. is set out on the third floor of a new deportment store. Twenty separate concessions, and their associated dining areas, are arranged around a dramatic seven-storey atrium space. It's a wild success!

This food court is constructed in the basement of the Hilton Hotel in an area, which was formerly an underground car park. There are twenty-eight separate concessions of eastern and Western foods. The court is to be connected to adjoining stores by a new underground link, and will eventually be opened up to the new MRT subway system at present being constructed under the city.

“Chen House” Tien Mou, Taipei, Taiwan.

The refurbishment and extension of an existing luxury house outside Taipei, for the chairman of a local fashion group, included a new swimming pool, changing room and staff accommodation. PTCO also provided a full interior and furnishing consultancy on this project.

The Cafe 'M' Taipei, Taiwan

Cafe 'M' is an Italian restaurant sited on Taipei's main street. The space is 45 meters deep, on three levels. The design, with its double and treble heights spanned by walkways of wood and steel, adds both drama and life to spaces deep within the building.

Two new build office head quarters buildings are to be constructed either side of the Kings Arms public house, on a prominent site just north of Putney Bridge. “Metropolis Studios” Chiswick, London W4.

The conversion of an Edwardian Power Station, originally built to power the London trams, into a 'state of the art' recording studio complex. Reception rooms serve five Recording Studios, bar and restaurant offices and maintenance bay. This project was constructed in three phases, the final studios being built whilst the main studios were occupied and in use.

“Castle Coombe” Kingston Hill, Surrey

The conversion and extension of a 1920's private residence on Kingston Hill, Surrey. The existing house was totally refurbished and a new extension of garaging, garden rooms, a gym and sauna were added. The works also included the remodelling of the driveway and Wardens, and the construction of a new swimming pool, sun terrace and floodlit tennis court. Consultancy was also provided on interior design and furnishing.

“Napa Creek Terrace” Nape City, California, USA.

On a 'green field' site in Nape, PTCO hove constructed a low-rent housing scheme of fifty-two apartments. The concept was to give some order and grandeur to the proposal, as well as defiling with the large car-parking requirement with some subtlety. The scheme was most successful and rented in record time.

New Graphic Studio, Venice, Los Angeles, California, USA.

The construction of a new studio for a Graphic Designer over an existing garage in a back-land site in Venice. This low-Budget project was built using standard windows in an interesting way. The main studio space is lit by small windows to the south and a larger one to the Northwest, and sits in dramatic counter-balance over the garage below.

“Villa Zapu” Nape County, California, USA.

This new private house was built on a 200-acre site high above the Napa Valley. The project included for the design of the buildings and interiors, the construction of a new road and a well, and for landscaping around the main house. Guests to the house are accommodated in a tower built as a landmark on the highest point.

A new B1 office development consisting of 12 separate units. built around a courtyard. The scheme works particularly well in relation to the scale and nature of the surrounding streets, and is very popular with local residents; it reflects the spirit of the new B1 use class. PTCO have their main office located here.

Vale Royal Kings Cross, London N7.

The conversion of a Victorian warehouse into smart offices for a film production company. The existing building was totally restored and refurbished. Glazed screens were added to provide the required separation between spaces. The roof was opened up to form a spectacular space with new skylights and a quality timber floor.

“Battersea House” Battersea Church Road, London SW11.

The development of a small back land site in Battersea, approached down an alleyway and with difficult 'overlooking' problems, into a unique London house. This was a speculative project, which was sold 'off-plan' to the current owners. PTCO plan more of this special new build projects as sites becomes available.

The conversion of an existing taxi garage into a B1 office Courtyard scheme, consisting of ten different individual units. The existing buildings were completely altered and Overhauled, almost as though 'new build', but without the associated planning problems.

The modernisation and restoration of a 17th Century house. The roof was completely replaced, the windows overhauled and new services installed. All of the work was carried out without any changes in the appearance of this historic building. A black slate swimming pool was added into the old Chelsea garden to resemble a garden pond. All work was carried out in close relationship with English Heritage.

“Casa Mia” Kingston Hill, Surrey

"Case Mia" is one of the earliest Spanish style houses to be built in England in the 1 930's. PTCO hove totally refurbished and reorganised the main house, constructed a new swimming pool and pool house and added a new three bedroom guest house, to the east of the site. All works were carried out to match the existing Spanish style.

Marco Pirroni's Entrance Hall Marylebone, London W1.

PTCO, having completed the design of Adam Ant's London apartment were commissioned by his partner Marco Pironni to produce an 'interesting' interior. The entrance hall is twisted and distorted, doors are angled and radiators tilted. The walls are painted by Swedish artist Madeleine Palme. The rest of the apartment, as a Contrast is cool and functional.

The Penthouses are built high above the ground on top of an Edwardian Mansion block. The East Penthouse is constructed as part of an existing roof scape, with views of the Albert Hall. Two grand spaces, the entrance hall dining room and the galleried studio living room, are linked by a corridor with views. There are three bedrooms. The West Penthouse is a more formal apartment on a grander scale, with five bedrooms and a turreted living room. A sequence of halls of different shapes, one square one round and one triangular join the rooms.
