PTCO's
first food court commission in Taiwan was sited in the basement and ground
floor of the 'Sunrise' department store. The two levels are linked by a
central bank of escalators. The court itself consists of specialist
concessions of Chinese, Japanese and Western foods. Each has their own
seating as well as sharing a Communal dining area. This scheme has set the
standard for food courts in the Capital.

PTCO
were commissioned to design a new entertainment building in the Roppongi district
of Tokyo. The concept wins for 'A House of Pleasure', owned by a European
eccentric, which Contained an Italian Restaurant a French Restaurant, both
with separate entertaining rooms and a Nightclub in the Cellar. The design
was received with great enthusiasm but was eventually shelved due to an
excessive increase in land prices.

'Sport '90'
Design Museum, London SE1.
PTCO were commissioned by the Design
Museum to create the 'Sport '90' Exhibition in the 'Boilerhouse' section of
the museum. A selection of the 'state of the art' pieces of sports equipment
wars dramatically displayed and 'posed' on an arid of plinths, which pierce a
sloping plywood floor. Each object was theatrically lit and set against a
vibrant blue wall.

“Sunrise”
Department store Hsin Chu, Taiwan
The second food court for 'Sunrise',
and the first in Hsin Chu. is set out on the third floor of a new deportment
store. Twenty separate concessions, and their associated dining areas, are
arranged around a dramatic seven-storey atrium space. It's a wild success!

“Hilton Food
Plaza” Taipei, Taiwan
This food court is constructed in the
basement of the Hilton Hotel in an area, which was formerly an underground
car park. There are twenty-eight separate concessions of eastern and Western
foods. The court is to be connected to adjoining stores by a new underground
link, and will eventually be opened up to the new MRT subway system at
present being constructed under the city.

“Chen House”
Tien Mou, Taipei, Taiwan.
The
refurbishment and extension of an existing luxury house outside Taipei, for
the chairman of a local fashion group, included a new swimming pool, changing
room and staff accommodation. PTCO also provided a full interior and
furnishing consultancy on this project.

The Cafe 'M'
Taipei, Taiwan
Cafe 'M' is an Italian restaurant
sited on Taipei's main street. The space is 45 meters deep, on three levels.
The design, with its double and treble heights spanned by walkways of wood
and steel, adds both drama and life to spaces deep within the building.

Two
new build office head quarters buildings are to be constructed either side of
the Kings Arms public house, on a prominent site just north of Putney Bridge.
The proposed buildings are simple and efficient, and yet, by sympathetic
massing and scale, and by careful selection of building materials and finish,
will achieve a level of quality seldom seen in Commercial architecture of
this nature.

“Metropolis
Studios” Chiswick, London W4.
The conversion of an Edwardian Power
Station, originally built to power the London trams, into a 'state of the
art' recording studio complex. Reception rooms serve five Recording Studios,
bar and restaurant offices and maintenance bay. This project was constructed
in three phases, the final studios being built whilst the main studios were
occupied and in use.

“Castle
Coombe” Kingston Hill, Surrey
The conversion and extension of a
1920's private residence on Kingston Hill, Surrey. The existing house was
totally refurbished and a new extension of garaging, garden rooms, a gym and
sauna were added. The works also included the remodelling of the driveway and
Wardens, and the construction of a new swimming pool, sun terrace and
floodlit tennis court. Consultancy was also provided on interior design and
furnishing.

“Napa Creek
Terrace” Nape City, California, USA.
On a 'green field' site in Nape, PTCO
hove constructed a low-rent housing scheme of fifty-two apartments. The
concept was to give some order and grandeur to the proposal, as well as
defiling with the large car-parking requirement with some subtlety. The
scheme was most successful and rented in record time.

New Graphic
Studio, Venice, Los Angeles, California, USA.
The construction of a new studio for
a Graphic Designer over an existing garage in a back-land site in Venice.
This low-Budget project was built using standard windows in an interesting
way. The main studio space is lit by small windows to the south and a larger
one to the Northwest, and sits in dramatic counter-balance over the garage
below.

“Villa Zapu”

This new private house was built on a
200-acre site high above the Napa Valley. The project included for the design
of the buildings and interiors, the construction of a new road and a well,
and for landscaping around the main house. Guests to the house are
accommodated in a tower built as a landmark on the highest point.

The conversion of a Victorian
warehouse into smart offices for a film production company. The existing
building was totally restored and refurbished. Glazed screens were added to
provide the required separation between spaces. The roof was opened up to
form a spectacular space with new skylights and a quality timber floor.

“Battersea

The development of a small back land
site in Battersea, approached down an alleyway and with difficult
'overlooking' problems, into a unique London house. This was a speculative
project, which was sold 'off-plan' to the current owners. PTCO plan more of

The conversion of an existing taxi

completely replaced, the windows overhauled and new services installed. All
of the work was carried out without any changes in the appearance of this
historic building. A black slate swimming pool was added into the old Chelsea
garden to resemble a garden pond. All work was carried out in close
relationship with English Heritage.

“Casa Mia”

"Case Mia" is one of the
earliest Spanish style houses to be built in England in the 1 930's. PTCO
hove totally refurbished and reorganised the main house, constructed a new

the east of the site. All works were carried out to match the existing
Spanish style.

Pirroni's Entrance Hall Marylebone, London W1.
PTCO, having completed the design of
Adam Ant's London apartment were commissioned by his partner Marco Pironni to
produce an 'interesting' interior. The entrance hall is twisted and
distorted, doors are angled and radiators tilted. The walls are painted by
Swedish artist Madeleine Palme. The rest of the apartment, as a Contrast is
cool and functional.

The Penthouses are built high above
the ground on top of an Edwardian Mansion block. The East Penthouse is
constructed as part of an existing roof scape, with views of the Albert Hall.
Two grand spaces, the entrance hall dining room and the galleried studio
living room, are linked by a corridor with views. There are three bedrooms.
The West Penthouse is a more formal apartment on a grander scale, with five bedrooms
and a turreted living room. A sequence of halls of different shapes, one
square one round and one triangular join the rooms.

The conversion of a 1960's
speculative office building into a Video Post-Production facility carried out
